Early Access Review3 years of early access and from what I can tell not a whole lot has changed. It's ARK with Magic, making some of the mechanics different. The 'quests' ingame are nice, it gives you something to follow and use to help you progress through levels and learning things rather than just running around blindly killing things. Which you can still do instead if you'd prefer.Unlocking structures and items to craft however feels like a clunky mess at best though. If you're following these mini-quests on the side you'll find yourself hitting countless roadblocks with either your level not being high enough to continue progression (because of the requirement to learn something) or you can't craft/do the thing the quest wants you to do because you can't access the station you need due to the previously mentioned level-lock.I Do like how you unlock certain craftables with knowledge you'll learn from performing the related tasks, it gives it a feeling of actual progression in a skill rather than just 'You leveled up, now you can do X'.
But sadly it's both level and knowledge locked for nearly everything. Which is no good.It doesn't matter how many cooked meat I craft early game, if I don't reach level 20/30 I'm not going to learn to make anything new because of the level-lock.There's 0 player-base left on Official Servers anymore. I have one character on US PVE 2 and the most I've seen on at any one given time was 4 people, including myself. I've only ever actually physically spotted one other person online, and they whipped by so fast I could barely make out what creature they were even riding on.3 years ago when the game was still new it used to be people everywhere, such is how a new game usually is. It was so crowded you couldn't do anything because everywhere was land-locked on PvE servers.
Now everything is a straight up ghost town.I'm logging in now and again to grind out a few skills, kill a few creatures and wander around one of the outposts.I'm still early level, 18 or so. Early Access ReviewThis game has a lot going for itself in the current state that it's in. There is plenty to do and lots of ground to explore. However the world is a little barren at times will little to no creatures or animals spawning, rendering most of the map worthless. Swordigo cheats. There are tons of bugs which can be down right frustrating such as low slopes being unable to walk on.
Creeping terror. Not to mention all the typos like dupe text.
