There are two main ways to get new Sub-Personas in Persona Q2, either from defeating rare Shadows or by fusing them. You gain the ability to fuse two Personas during Kamoshidaman 3rd Ave and three Personas once you complete Special Screening 42 - Neo Kamo City (so, basically finish five Screenings to unlock that one). One might think that fusing Persona is random, but anyone who has played a Shin Megami Tensei game knows there is a set formula involved with fusion.

Whenever you're doing a fusion, the end result will always take into account the base level of the ingredients used (a little more on this later). Upon starting a fusion, the first thing you need to look at is the Arcana in which they belong. For example, fusing a Magician and Emperor Persona will always result in the Hanged Man Arcana. This expands into 3-Layer Fusions, but those have an extra step needed before you can determine the resulting Persona. With that general explanation out of the way, let's dive into the specifics for fusing Persona in this game.

Only together can you defeat the evil that has overtaken your kingdom! But it won't be easy, countless bloodthirsty monsters await. Demons, cyclops, the desert sand worm, undead pirranna plants and worse. Kingdom in chaos mod hacks.

Note: The blue color in the charts above are for 2-Layer Fusion, while the reddish color in the charts are for 3-Layer Fusion.

2-Layer Fusion

Using the chart above, you will be able to see the two Arcana needed to fuse the one you want. Once you do that, add their base levels and then divide by 2 to get the average. Take the average and add ONE to it, then find the next highest Persona on the list to get your result. For example, let's take Orobas (Magician, base level 9) and Sarasvati (Priestess, base level 6) and fuse them. Looking at the chart above, fusing Magician and Priestess will get you a Persona of the Chariot Arcana. Add their base levels together (9 + 6 = 15), then divide by two (7; always take away the decimals) and add one (8). The next highest Persona in the Chariot Arcana is Chimera at level 12.

3-Layer Fusion

Fusing three Personas is a little trickier than with two, as there are some extra steps involved. To determine which two Personas you fuse first, you look at their current levels. The one with the highest CURRENT LEVEL will be the third Persona used in the fusion. The other two Personas use the Normal Fusion method (Arcana only), then you fuse that with the third Persona to get your result. Triangle Fusions have their own resulting Arcana that is different from Normal Fusion. When you do the math, take all their BASE LEVELS, add them together and divide by three to get the average. Take that average and add five to it, then look for the next highest Persona on the resulting Arcana.

Let's take an example and use Agathion (Magician, current level 5), Ame-no-Uzume (Empress, current level 8), and Anzu (Emperor, current level 9). Since Anzu has the highest current level of 9, then it will be the third Persona used. With that in mind, fuse Agathion and Ame-no-Uzume using the rules in 2-Layer Fusion for the Arcana only (Magician + Empress = Justice). With that out of the way, you will now fuse a Justice and Emperor, which will net you a Empress Persona (don't forget to use the lower half of the Fusion Chart for 3-Layer Fusions). Add up their BASE LEVELS (3 + 6 + 4 = 13), then divide by three to get 4 and add five to get 9. The resulting Persona will be Yaksini.

Same Arcana Fusion

Attempting to fuse two or three Personas of the same Arcana will not get you the same results as above, as they have their own sets of rules. Doing two Personas of the same Arcana will net you a Persona that is weaker than the ingredients used (Jack Frost and Orobas will get you Agathion). For three Personas of the same Arcana, you will get a Persona that is higher than the ingredients used (Agathion, Orobas and Jack Frost will net you Hua Po). Note that attempting to fuse the two lowest or three highest Personas of any given Arcana will give you an invalid result.

Note: Unlike Persona Q, all of the Special Fusions in this game require a Key Item. The following page lists every single Special Fusion in the game, along with the items required for them and where to get said items.
